The ground floor of Borneo Backpackers was converted into a local post war coffee shop named " Borneo 1945 Museum Kopitiam". Managed by a separate business entity, 'Kopitiam' serves traditional local food and is decorated with antique furniture while the interior and exterior walls display wartime photographs of Australians and British soldiers, local unsung heros as well as replicas of war memorial plaques in Sabah.

In recognition of the significance of this historical building, two plaques presented by Sabah Tourism Board and the Australian Embassy in 1995 are displayed outside the building's wall.
